Villa Welgelegen — a listed national monument in the heart of The Hague
The Kings Ballroom is located in the Welgelegen building on Kazernestraat in The Hague, a former property of King Willem II. The building was designated a listed national monument in 1993 and is managed by Sociëteit De Vereeniging, founded on 1 May 1851.
The main hall, the centrepiece of the building, came about through a series of renovations between 1871 and 1885. In 1905, a conservatory was added. The result is a space that combines historic grandeur with practical suitability for modern events.
As preferred supplier, we know the venue inside out. We know what is logistically possible, which layouts work, and what guests expect at this location.
Layouts and capacity
The Kings Ballroom is versatile and suitable for a range of event types. Capacity can be increased by opening the billiard room. The garden is also available in summer.
The halls and rooms
The building has several rooms that can be used individually or in combination.
Main hall
The centrepiece of the building. Created between 1871 and 1885. High ceilings, historic details and ample space for most events.
Conservatory
Built in 1905, adjoining the main hall. Light and atmospheric, suitable as an additional space or reception area.
Billiard room
Can be opened for larger events to increase overall capacity. Approximately 85 m².
Bar
The Buskensbar, in its current form completed in 2001. Can be incorporated into the event or used as a separate reception area.
Library
Smaller reading and meeting room. Suitable for smaller groups or as a breakout space.
Garden
Available in summer. A marquee can be erected if needed, for extra capacity or an outdoor reception.

From a drinks reception with canapés to a fully catered seated dinner for 110 guests, including staff, tableware and a wine arrangement on request.
